Ausgrid Defects

Property owners are responsible for the maintenance of all private power poles, power lines and equipment supporting the network operator’s service cables and poles. This includes everything from the first point of connection to the switchboard or metering system on your property.

Real Electrical Solutions regularly repairs Ausgrid defects and can quickly get your electrical installation up to standard.

What is an Ausgrid defect notice?

Ausgrid technicians routinely check electrical connections and provide defect notices to customers when installations do not comply with Ausgrid’s Network Standards. You can be issued a defect notice relating to poles, power lines, meters and points of attachment located on your property. The notice delivered to you will list the defects that the Ausgrid technician identified on your power lines or equipment.

What are the common reasons for issuing an Ausgrid defect notice?

There are a number of reasons why you would receive an Ausgrid defect notice, but most notices are issued due to;

  • Incorrect or faulty wiring

  • Defective or missing equipment

  • Alterations made to the electrical connection

  • Low hanging overhead cables

  • Vegetation growing too close to power lines on the property

What should be done after receiving an Ausgrid defect notice?

We advise you to get the defects outlined on your Ausgrid notice resolved by a Level 2 ASP electrician as soon as possible after receiving the notice.

If you do not repair the outlined defects within 21 days after receiving the notification, your property’s electricity supply may be disconnected until maintenance is completed and your power lines and equipment meet Ausgrid’s safety standards.

Real Electrical Solutions’ team of Level 2 ASP electricians are authorised to work on local network and private power lines. We offer an unbeatable service to fix Ausgrid defects in Newcastle, Maitland or the Hunter Valley.
