The Point of Attachment or PoA is the location at which an overhead street cable is attached to your building to supply electricity and is run from the street’s network. Points of Attachment usually connect to the fascia board, metal brackets or a switchboard on your property.
Failing to upgrade your Point of Attachment could pose a significant risk if live wires were to separate. If this happens, your home will be left without power and the lives of those on your property could be at risk of electrocution if the wires were to end up on the ground.
Only Level 2 electricians are authorised to upgrade Point of Attachments as part of the process involves the disconnection and reconnection of service cables, which general electricians are not trained to do.
